The Final Countdown.... 7 days

As you have probably already noticed, I leave in seven days!!!!!!!  During the last week however, you wouldn't have known I was about to head out on an epic adventure because I did pretty much nothing to prepare.  The only thing I really did, was make plans for the first few days.  My current itinerary goes as follows....

Sat (Feb 5th)
 - Pack... although I know this seems rather last minute, everyone that knows me could testify that this is going to happen.

Sun (Feb 6th)
-Say goodbye.... while this is by far my least favorite part of my journey, it is necessary.
-3:15pm.... Board United Flight from Denver to San Fran, CA
-7:45pm.... Board Air New Zealand Flight from Cali to Auckland, New Zealand!!!!

Tues (Feb 8th) (Now this is New Zealand Time)
-5:55am.... Arrive in Auckland, New Zealand
-The rest of the day.... explore Auckland with the Amazing Shelby Rundell, possibly Bungy Jump :S
-Bedtime.... Experience my first Backpackers Hostel in Down Town Auckland @ BASE Auckland  (check out this link... it's pretty cool)

Wed (Feb 9th)
-7:35am.... Board the NakedBus (as long as we wake up to our alarm :S )
-2:05pm.... Arrive at New Plymouth where we will meet, Miss Carolyn Aish, an extremely generous woman (whom I've never met except over facebook, through a lady who's never actually met her whom knows my mom.... yeah, it's a small world) who has offered to show Shelby and I around and give us a place to stay for a few days.

After that..... We have no plans and we'll have the time of our lives playing it by ear until school starts and returns a sense of structure to our lives.

Two Weeks Til Lift Off!

I'm counting down the days now til I fly out!  Last week I spent my time in Fort Collins with some great friends that I'm going to miss dearly, but those seven days helped get me ready to go.  Along with saying goodbye to my favs, I got to spend some time preparing for this epic adventure.  I finally got my passport and visa in the mail.  I also had coffee with Shelby, another ag major at CSU that I will be traveling with, to try to make some type plan for after we land.  Thursday I spent an evening with the Frasiers (aka the Fo Co New Zealanders).  We looked through pictures and they helped me create a list of some of the best places to go in NZ.  Without this couple, I would not be going to New Zealand (or at least not this semester).

Along with becoming mentally and emotionally more prepared for New Zealand, I also went shopping!!! (P.s. if anyone is looking to buy hiking stuff, DO IT NOW!)  I am now the proud owner of a 65L backpacking-backpack, a 15 degree sleeping bag, a waterproof shell , several pairs of wool socks, a smart wool hat, and water treatment tablets (all at least 40% off regular price).

So, as you can tell, I'm EXCITED!  Two weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
